Love is what happens to you when you’re busy making other plans…

The Totally Perfect Life Plan of Amanda Gray

Step 1 – Take total control of own destiny and avoid getting too wrapped up in the details.

Step 2 – Definitely do NOT kiss gorgeous bad-boy businessman who doesn’t know how to live life without scheduling it six months in advance, even if he is absolutely irresistible.

Step 3 – Don’t even THINK of accompanying him to London as his PA to enjoy steamy encounters in a metropolitan paradise.

Step 4 – Absolutely, positively, whatever you do- do NOT fall in love with him…

In Her Best Laid Plans we meet two main characters who are very much at opposite ends of the spectrum where life is concerned. There’s Amanda, who is laid-back and happy to go-with-the-flow in life. She’s twenty four and still working as a Barista and living with her brother, with no real idea where she’s going in life. Then there’s Jared, her brother’s best friend who is super organised, super efficient, super determined and also a super successful business man.
Amanda and Jared are good friends themselves, but as Jared is called back to London on family business, he offers to take Amanda as his PA, giving her a good job and a good reference, enabling her to move out of her brother’s house and start her own career.
Reluctantly Amanda agrees, after all there is ‘The Plan’ to think about… Something Amanda created one gloomy New Years Day after one too many large cocktails. Taking inspiration from her brother, Mikey, who was challenging the hand that he’d been dealt in life after being left disabled following an accident, yet still landing a top job for a firm of lawyers, Amanda decides that things need to change. After the death of both of their parents Amanda and Mikey are extremely close and Amanda wants to give him space to live with his fiancée, so she accompanies Jared to London to build bridges with his estranged family and help to save the family business. However, it turns out there’s much more on the agenda than family business.
Amanda and Jared have always had a bit of a ‘thing’ and emotions run high when they’re spending so much time together. However, the more Amanda starts to want Jared, the more he resists, meaning there’s only one thing for it. A fully fledged, fool-proof plan to seduce Jared King is required…

Firstly I loved the two lead characters of Amanda and Jared. Them being complete opposites, yet falling for one another made for a great story. I got so engrossed in their relationship and was desperate for them both to just give into temptation and get together…but that wouldn’t be much of a story would it!? The fact that they are both so different ultimately means that they end up complimenting each other. See? Meant to be together. The one thing that they do seem to share is a fondness for being stubborn…
There are plenty of ups and downs in the story so it’s never a sure thing that they are going to end up together. In fact, a lot of the time it looks as though they won’t. Sometimes I wanted to have a strong word with Jared and tell him to sort himself out…Not that he would have listened, those ‘shutters’ of his would have probably come down!
Her Best Laid Plans is a really beautiful, romantic story. It shows how important honesty, courage and planning are in a relationship and I found it to be a really enjoyable novel. There’s sexual tension by the bucket load and one of the funniest scenes in a book I’ve read in ages involving Amanda, a lack of sleep and a boardroom… Absolutely hilarious! I also really liked the ending of Her Best Laid Plans. It was satisfying, lovely and everything was wrapped up nicely. Whilst the ending did seem to happen quite suddenly I didn’t find this to matter at all because I was so wrapped up in what was actually happening.
A really exciting, funny, sexy read…I can’t wait for more from Eve Devon!

Eve Devon writes sexy heroes, sassy heroines & happy ever afters…
Growing up in locations like Botswana and Venezuela gave Eve Devon a taste for adventure; her love for romances began when her mother shoved one into her hands in a desperate attempt to keep her quiet during TV coverage of the Wimbledon tennis finals!
When Eve wasn’t consuming books by the bucketload, she could be found pretending to be a damsel in distress or running around solving mysteries and writing down her adventures. As a teenager, Eve wrote countless episodes of TV detective dramas so the hero and heroine would end up together every week. As an adult, still hooked on romance and mysteries, she worked in a library to conveniently continue consuming books by the bucketload, until realising she was destined to write contemporary romance and romantic suspense herself.
