The Best FREE eBooks

If there’s one thing I love more than eBooks it’s FREE eBooks. What could be better? Amazon seem to have some pretty fabulous novels and novellas which they are currently giving away for the bargain price of…well…nothing. Here’s my pick of the best, but remember to be quick as they won’t be free forever…

The One You Really Want by Jill Mansell. Published by Headline

This is one of my favourite’s by the legendary Jill Mansell. If you’re yet to discover Jill’s gorgeous books then why not start with The One You Really Want? Or if you’re a die-hard fan like myself then why not download this classic from 2008 to get you in the mood for Jill’s next release in January 2015, Three Amazing Things About You.
I adore Jill Mansell and her warm, romantic stories, to me she is one of the Queen’s of Chick-Lit, so go and download this book RIGHT NOW. You’ll love it. I promise!

Starter for TenStarter for Ten by David Nicholls. Published by Hodder.

David Nicholls is one of my favourite male authors as I always find his books engaging, realistic and just so wonderfully written. (I’m extremely excited about reading Us, EEEK!) Starter For Ten is one of the only novels of David’s I am yet to read, so naturally I snapped this up when I saw it was free. I’ve heard many good things about this novel and it’s now sat patiently on my Kindle and I can’t wait to get started.

The year is 1985. Brian Jackson, a working-class kid on full scholarship, has started his first term at university. He has a dark secret—a long-held, burning ambition to appear on the wildly popular British TV quiz show University Challenge—and now, finally, it seems the dream is about to become reality. He’s made the school team, and they’ve completed the qualifying rounds and are limbering up for their first televised match. (And, what’s more, he’s fallen head over heels for one of his teammates, the beautiful, brainy, and intimidatingly posh Alice Harbinson.) Life seems perfect and triumph inevitable—but as his world opens up, Brian learns that a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing

How the In-Laws Wrecked Christmas - kindle-store Book Ranking and Book Store StatsHow the In-Laws Wrecked Christmas by Fiona Gibson. Published by Avon
Ok, so this novel technically isn’t released yet, (details, details) but it will be very soon (13th November to be exact) and as a huge Fiona Gibson fan I am eagerly awaiting How the In-Laws Wrecked Christmas. It ticks every box for me, it looks laugh-out-loud funny, is about Christmas, and is written by one of my favourite authors. Win, win. Pre-order, quick!

Christmas in the country. What could be better? All you need is one country house, one gorgeous boyfriend and a liberal dusting of snow. Right?
That’s what Anna thinks and she can’t wait for the festivities to start. But then she meets her gorgeous boyfriend’s awful parents. And their drunk friends. And she starts to hear all about a certain ex-wife. Suddenly this doesn’t look like a very merry Christmas after all…
Christmas doesn’t always go to plan, and Fiona tells it like it is.

A Beginner's Guide To ChristmasA Beginner’s Guide To Christmas by Jennifer Joyce.
Sticking with the Christmas theme here, you can also download A Beginner’s Guide to Christmas for free right now as well. I love the synopsis for this short story and have officially added it to my list of Christmas reads. It sounds like a quick, sweet and very fun story to get you in the festive mood, if you’re not already (and if not, why not??)
Ruth usually spends Christmas curled up on her parents’ sofa, watching feel-good movies whilst being fed festive food and drink until she can no longer move. But Ruth’s perfect Christmas is shattered when her mum receives a DIY-induced injury and Ruth is forced to take over the preparations.
Shopping. Cooking. A house full of hyped-up kids.
Christmas may no longer be the most wonderful time of the year.

Miracle at the Museum of Broken HeartsMiracle at the Museum of Broken Hearts by Talli Roland. Published by Notting Hill Press.
Talli Roland is another author that I love, so of course I couldn’t resist ‘1-Clicking’ this beauty. I am loving the cover and it sounds like my ideal read. Ok, ok, it’s another Christmassy themed novel, but I couldn’t resist.
All Rose needs is a Christmas miracle… or does she?
When chief romantic Rose Delaney scores her dream job at London’s quirkiest new attraction, The Museum of Broken Hearts, she thinks she’s got it made. Sure, it’s a little depressing dealing with relics of failed relationships each day, but Rose is determined not to let it break her ‘love conquers all’ spirit. After discovering the museum’s handsome curator is nursing a broken heart of his own, Rose steps in to fix it. Can Rose heal the rift in time for the holidays, or will this Christmas crush her fantasies forever?

Jill Mansell’s A-Z of Happiness. Published by Review.
Seeing as I started with Jill Mansell, it seems a good idea to finish with this gem of an eBook that I am hugely looking forward to. I can’t wait to get an insight into Jill’s life and see how an ‘easily distracted’ writer spends her day. This sounds fantastic and is the perfect companion for any Jill Mansell fan. It’s not released until the 6th November, but there’s nothing stopping you from pre-ordering RIGHT NOW!
In this delightful free ebook, Jill Mansell gives readers an exclusive glimpse of her life as a writer. In Jill’s world there’s a bear (not a real one), lit up by fairy lights, with zillions of happy endings buzzing around, eating Chinese takeaway for breakfast, getting up late and tweeting A LOT. Oh, and there’s been an explosion in the glitter factory!
Recommended for all with withdrawal symptoms from THE UNPREDICTABLE CONSQUENCES OF LOVE, and anticipation disorder for THREE AMAZING THINGS ABOUT YOU.
Includes A-Z OF HAPPINESS, A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN EASILY DISTRACTED WRITER, AUTHOR Q&A – and the opening chapters of THREE AMAZING THINGS ABOUT YOU.
NOT A NOVEL – but a little happiness fix.

  1. Wow, nice!! I usually don’t read a whole lot of ebooks, but when I’m in the car or whatever and didn’t bring anything to read, they come in handy.
