It’s Beginning To Feel A lot Like Christmas

Julie Shackman

The fairy lights…..

The glossy tinsel and air of anticipation…..

Christmas is one of my favourite times of the year.

In our house, watching Chevy Chase in “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” and the wonderful Alastair Sim in the classic “A Christmas Carole” is compulsory!

I don’t know how many times I’ve seen these two movies but they never fail to make me laugh and cry in equal measure.

And just as important is buying the gorgeous new Christmas themed novels that are hitting the bookshelves.

Already, I have dropped hints to my Husband about the new festive Jenny Colgan and Chrissie Manby books….and I may have my eye on a few others!

There’s nothing lovelier than snuggling down at Christmas on the sofa with a Christmas themed book, the obligatory box of chocolates prized open and the tree lights twinkling like stars.

From glittery covers depicting snow-decked cottages to loved-up couples dressed in their winter woollies, there’s such a lovely array of festive novels at this time of year.

What with the sparkly novels teasing me from the bookshelves and the rainbow array of Christmas jumpers swinging from the clothes section in the supermarket, it really is starting to feel a lot like Christmas.

So my message to all you lovely writers, readers and bloggers out there is have a very Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy 2015.

Thank you for all your support during the past year and let’s hope that the next twelve months sees even more talented members of the writing and blogging community, sharing their love of writing.

A big, big thank you to Julie for this lovely Festive post.

Hero or Zero - Cover - 29 September 2014I trained as a journalist but writing romance has always been a dream of mine. When I’ve not got my head in a book or drafting one, I write verses and captions for greetings card companies. Writing at home seems to be incredibly difficult for me – I usually require coffee, music and noise.
My second romcom, “Hero or Zero” has just been released. “Rock My World” was my debut romcom. I’m married, have two sons and live in Scotland.
