I confess, I love really gritty, graphic scenes in the books I read. And I write them, too. I’ve never been afraid to pen intense sex scenes, even when I had contracts with Silhouette. Back then, I’d get my manuscripts back with great big red marks through them. Even though I wrote for their spicy Desire line, my work was considered too risqué. Thankfully, the market has evolved, and readers can now get the books of their hearts with a simple “buy now” click.
(Okay, another bookaholic confession…for those times when I prefer a paperback, the words “out for delivery” can feel orgasmic.)
For me, the thing that makes really explicit interactions work is the combination of frank language, honest discussion, but most of all, the emotion. Most readers of erotic romance are women, and it’s that connection we’re looking for. We want to know that these two characters care for each other, no matter how deep their conflict is. Along with that, we want to root for their happily ever after, even against the odds.
In my stories, the hero and heroine will challenge each other like no one else ever has. And that’s especially true for Lara Bertrand, the heroine of Bind.
Lara has been involved in a few relationships before, but they’ve all left her unsatisfied. She wanted to try a spanking, or at least something kinky, but most men weren’t willing to try. The boyfriend who tried didn’t understand what she was looking for, and the experience was unsatisfying.
But when her family’s situation turns dire, Lara sees only one way out: asking the dynamic Connor Donovan to marry her. The tycoon is young, sexy, and she soon learns he’s also a Dominant. He’s willing to help her out and marry her, but it will come at a cost, her total and complete submissive surrender.
For a woman with almost no BDSM experience, his stipulation is terrifying. And a little tantalizing. Connor turns her inside out, seducing her with his demands, binding her with his dominance, and leaving her desperate for more…
Excerpt from Bind:
Connor propped his hips on the edge of the desk with his legs spread. “Come here.” He pointed to a spot directly in front of him. “Let me greet you properly.”
She wanted to object. They hadn’t hammered out their agreement. Getting ensnared by him put her in a worse bargaining position. Then she told herself that it was too late. She was already captivated by him.
“Come here, sub.”
“I’m not your submissive.”
Letting the objections die unspoken, she did as he requested.
“Good,” he approved. He put his hands on her hips and drew her a bit closer. “Kiss me.”
Lara wondered if she was capable of denying him anything.
He claimed her lips.
His first touch was a soft, sensual joining that demolished her resistance. It was sweet with the promise of tenderness.
Then, that accomplished, he threaded a hand through her hair so he could cradle her head while holding her captive. He plunged his tongue into her mouth, tasting, exploring, demanding her surrender.
Even if she wanted to withhold it, her body would betray her. She wanted him.
He tasted of determination as he all but fucked her with his tongue. Her knees weakened and she leaned into him for support. Since he hadn’t told her otherwise, she held onto him, grabbing handfuls of his silk suit. As always his support was absolute.
She was unable to breathe, unable to think. The only thing she recognized was her total capitulation to him. The more he gave, the more she wanted.
When he finally ended the kiss and drew away, she released him. She pressed her fingers to her mouth, not because he’d been too rough but because she wanted to remember the exquisite sensations.
“How’s your ass?”
“Any pain from yesterday’s spanking?”
The only thing she’d received from that was a restless night as the memories had tormented her. It had hurt, but in a way that had left her woozy for more. He was brilliant, she conceded. He only gave her enough to keep her curious. “I’m fine.”
She knew it would be useless to ask him to repeat what he’d said or to question the order. Connor Donovan always meant what he said. She could argue with him, insisting that she wouldn’t do anything until they’d sorted out things between them. But what would that gain her?
A newly found devilish part of her personality drove her on. Each experience she’d had with him was hot.
“I’m waiting,” he prompted her.
Slowly, she turned. She pulled her hem up around her waist.
He sucked in a breath. “Panties over the garter straps. You dressed that way on purpose.”
Yes, she had.
On that long-ago trip to the lingerie store, she’d bought a black bra, garter belt and matching panties set. She’d added several pairs of stockings. Until this morning, they’d remained at the bottom of her lingerie drawer.
Connor’s reaction to her unusual boldness made her giddy.
He stroked her buttocks then skimmed the insides of her thighs, stopping just millimeters from her pussy.
Her breath caught.
“There’s not even a single mark. No reminders.”
“No physical marks.” She looked at him over her shoulder. “But I have plenty of memories.”
His eyes were narrowed, and she felt the sensuality simmer between them.
“Shall I give you some more?”
When he’d said that he’d make her beg, she’d scoffed at the idea. But need was becoming its own, clawing thing. “Yes,” she whispered.
In response, he growled then pulled down the bikini panties. His gruffness caught her off guard, turned her on.

About Sierra Cartwright:
INTERNATIONAL BEST SELLING AUTHOR
Sierra Cartwright was born in Manchester, England and raised in Colorado. Moving to the United States was nothing like her young imagination had concocted. She expected to see cowboys everywhere, and a covered wagon or two would have been really nice!
Now she writes novels as untamed as the Rockies, while spending a fair amount of time in Texas…where, it turns out, the Texas Rangers law officers don’t ride horses to roundup the bad guys, or have six-shooters strapped to their sexy thighs as she expected. And she’s yet to see a poster that says Wanted: Dead or Alive. (Can you tell she has a vivid imagination?)
Sierra wrote her first book at age nine, a fanfic episode of Star Trek when she was fifteen, and she completed her first romance novel at nineteen. She actually kissed William Shatner (Captain Kirk) on the cheek once, and she says that’s her biggest claim to fame. Her adventure through the turmoil of trust has taught her that love is the greatest gift. Like her image of the Old West, her writing is untamed, and nothing is off-limits.
She invites you to take a walk on the wild side…but only if you dare.
