Bookish Reasons To Be Happy: June

Firstly I apologise for the lateness of this post. If you could just ignore the fact that we’re nearly halfway through June then that would be great. Here are my bookish-inspired reasons to be happy this month…

IT’S JUNE. Y’know…June…That month in the summer when the weather is sometimes alright (aka above ten degrees). As soon as the sun puts his hat on, put yours on too (along with lots of sun cream, of course) grab your book and flip-flops and just spend five minutes reading in the sunshine. It will make you feel good and just that bit happier. You don’t have to even be on a beach, just make the most of your backgarden/park/fire escape at work and do some reading in the sunshine. A glass of strawberry Ribena is an optional extra (but in my case a necessity…)

Literary Festivals. Festivals of the Literary variety are my kind of festival (in other words there’s no camping or chemical toilets, and instead of rock stars there are books. WINNER) There are a stack of Literary Festivals going on throughout June, all over England. In fact there’s lots happening over the whole summer. Find one near you here.

The Return of Sophie Kinsella. Those of you who read this blog regularly will know that I love Sophie Kinsella. Regular readers will also know that I love reading YA. Which why I am full of excited book-beans at the prospect of reading Finding Audrey, which is Sophie Kinsella’s first young adult novel. That is surely a winning combination… Finding Audrey was released on the 9th June and my copy is sat patiently on my e-reader. I simply cannot wait!

Choc Lit. The 15th June saw Choc Lit celebrate its 6th Birthday and to celebrate I put together a post sharing some of my favourite Choc Lit titles. It really made me realise what top quality fiction they produce, and I was surprised by how many of the books I have enjoyed recently have been Choc Lit titles. They’re smashing at what they do & I wish them and their authors another very successful six years.

Blogging. I celebrated my first blogging birthday on Monday and was overwhelmed by the support and lovely comments that I have received, so thank you. I have loved every minute of blogging and cant imagine my life without the lovely people that it has brought into my life. Therefore, this June I will be celebrating blogging and taking the time to appreciate it and all of the wonderful opportunities it has brought my way.

Return to Bluebell Hill by Rebecca Pugh. I know that myself and practically every book blogger everywhere is truly excited about the release of Return to Bluebell Hill by Rebecca Pugh; especially because as well as now being a super talented author, Becca is one of us (a book blogger) herself. Rebecca was one of the first book bloggers I spoke to on Twitter and it’s no exaggeration to say she is completely fabulous. After the success of book blogger Lynsey James’ novel, Just The Way You Are, I am expecting big things from Becca too and I wish her all the luck in the world.

Favourite Author Releases. Ohh, I nearly forgot! June just happens to be the month that some of my all time favourite authors release books. I’m talking Adele Parks with If You Go Away, Lucy Diamond with Summer at Shell Cottage and Giovanna Fletcher with Dream a Little Dream.
