Ellie is fresh back from her honeymoon and can’t wait to share her news with her best friends Katie and Jane. To everyone’s surprise, mother-of-two Jane has news of her own… The women are due a day apart, on December 25th and 26th and Katie can’t wait to be an honorary aunt to the babies.

But it’s hard to keep your sense of humor, not to mention your self-esteem, in the face of hemorrhoids and elasticated waistbands. Add a clingy mother-in-law, a career in cardiac arrest and a sex life that makes Mother Theresa look lusty, and soon their lives are as out of control as their bodies.

As the co-founders of The Curvy Girls Club, where loving yourself is the only rule, will the friends be able to practice what they preach?

This gorgeous novella picks up where Michele’s previous book, The Curvy Girls Club, left off. We are re-united with best friends Ellie, Katie and Jane who are about to embark on their biggest and scariest challenge to date – motherhood.
The Curvy Girls Club is going from strength to strength and all three of the girls seem happy and settled, at least from the outset. Jane is finally learning to love herself and her presenting job is going well, but when she finds out she and Adam are expecting their third child will everything change?
Ellie and Thomas have now got married and are delighted when Ellie learns she is expecting. They can’t wait to build their own little family. If only they weren’t having difficulties with current members of the family in the form of Thomas’s mother, Millicent…
Meanwhile Katie is in for the shock of her life when she finds out she is also expecting. She’s only just moved in with Rob she can’t help but wonder if things are moving a little too quickly?

I was really looking forward to being re-united with Ellie, Katie and Jane. Picking up this novella really did feel like having an old catch-up with friends and although it’s been a while since I read The Curvy Girls Club, I had no trouble catching up with these three smart, brave and inspirational women as they tackle the next big hurdle in their lives. After loving The Curvy Girls Club as much as I did, it’s no wonder that these three characters were hidden away in my head, just waiting to come out and continue their story. Their traits and personalities quickly came flooding back to me and I loved them just as much this time round.
Whilst all three friends falling pregnant at the same time may not have been the most realistic of happenings – who cares!? Anything can happen in books and that’s what makes them so great.
It was fascinating to see how the girl’s pregnancies would affect them. After all, it’s no secret that they have struggled with their self-esteem and looks in the past, so the prospect of gaining extra weight was never going to be easy for any of them and I was especially concerned about Jane. However, these characters are three sussed ladies and like everyone else they have worries and niggles – but ultimately they don’t let them beat them.
I think Ellie remains my favourite character from the bunch. There’s always been something about her which I love and it was great fun finding out a bit more about her life with Thomas. I did really feel for her over the way Millicent treated her (scary mother-in-law alert!) but the way in which everything came together on that front was satisfying and worked really well.
I love Michele’s writing. She has made three really memorable and extremely loveable characters here and I really, really hope we get to re-visit them again at some point in the future.

This novella is the equivalent of a big mug of hot chocolate on a cold day. Warm, enticing and perfectly sweet.

A huge thank you to Notting Hill Press for sending me a copy of The Curvy Girls Baby Club to read and review.
