— Mia Maxwell loves food. She loves it so much that she’s made it her career. On the surface Mia seems to have it all sewn up. She lives in trendy east London with her best friend. By day she runs her own food PR consultancy, and by night she’s a food blogger enjoying a burgeoning audience. Mia has a banker boyfriend who enjoys travelling the world, enabling her to taste the globe’s culinary delights. But Mia is still hungry and, when she heads down to Cornwall to run a food festival, she doesn’t realize that her entire life is about to be cast adrift.
It may have been a while since I discovered Episode 1 of the Greedily Yours series, but luckily I had no trouble picking up where the story left off and devouring Episode 2.
The fact that I fell back into the story quite so easily is testament to Emma Hamilton’s writing and the impression that the characters left on me from Episode 1.
Things were left on a bit of a cliff-hanger in the previous instalment, so I loved how the story dives right in to where we left Mia and Tom. I was desperate to find out what was going to happen and it was satisfying to return to the story.
It was a joy to be re-united with Mia. She is such a vibrant and fun character to read about and her passion for food really shines through via her blog posts that we are lucky enough to read snippets from.
There’s lots going on in Episode 2 – Mia’s boyfriend Paul is about to celebrate his birthday and has planned a trip to Miami. Mia is super excited about this – the beaches, the sunshine and most importantly (at least for Mia) THE FOOD! However it’s clear that something (or should that be someone is on her mind the whole time…)
Meanwhile back in Cornwall, Tom can be found brooding over what happened with Mia. If what happened was anything at all…And surely she would have been in touch if what happened WAS a something…? ARGH! Still, Tom has his sister and nephews coming down to stay, so has little time to dwell on Mia and what happened between them…
I loved the part of the story where Mia and Paul ventured over to Miami (even though Paul annoyed the heck out of me!) I really felt for Mia and the way Paul was trying to control her really riled me. I really liked it when she had her fortune told and of course her descriptions of the food she consumed in Miami were completely drool-worthy.
I also loved how Mia and Tom discovered one another’s blogs. This element of the story was brilliantly done and will no doubt intrigue all the bloggers out there!
I am really enjoying the way that Greedily Yours in shaping up and once again this episode ends on a cliff-hanger, leaving me desperate to gobble up episode 3!
