When I received an email from the lovely Helena at Avon telling me about Challenge 30 I couldn’t resist spreading the word. Challenge 30 is a project launched by Helen Huthwaite who is the editorial director at the wonderful HarperCollins. Helen’s aim is to provide a range of manuscript services for all you aspiring authors out there – and raise £30,000 for charity whilst she’s at it.
Helen has put together a list of agents, authors and editors who are offering their services as a gift to aspiring writers. If you are a budding author then this could be JUST the thing you’re looking for. You will be buying your very own editorial insight as the team will read an in-depth synopsis of your book and the first 3,000 words of a manuscript whilst giving you constructive editorial feedback, guidance and advice. This gift costs £60 for author feedback & £70 for editorial feedback and all of the proceeds go to charity.
I think this is such an amazing idea. I am no author so I can’t even imagine how difficult it must be to get your work seen, let alone receive editorial feedback on your writing. You can take a look at the Challenge 30 website to find out more (and read the article on the the Bookseller website which explains everything much better than I ever could!)
I really admire Helen for coming up with this project and I have no doubt that she will achieve her goal of £30, 000 easily.
So if you or someone you know are desperately looking to launch your novel into the big, wide world then this is exactly what you need. Call it a belated Christmas gift??
