I am so excited to be joined by the fabulous Lacey London on my blog today. Author of the best selling Clara Andrews series, Lacey is due to release the latest book in Clara’s adventures, Clara in the Caribbean, next month and it sounds amazing! Lacey was kind enough to stop by and give those of us who aren’t familiar with Clara a brief introduction, along with sharing her tips for aspiring writers and declaring her love for the wonderful Jane Costello…
Hi Lacey, welcome to Bookaholic Confessions! I’m thrilled to have you on my blog. Thank you so much for participating in this interview. Would you like to start by introducing yourself…?
Hi Holly! Thank you for having me. It’s a pleasure to be here. My name is Lacey London, I am twenty-seven and I live in Wilmslow with my lovely husband and our furbaby. I am also the author of the best selling Clara Andrews series!
For those of us who haven’t discovered your fabulous-sounding ‘Clara’ series of books can you tell us a little about them?
The Clara Andrews series focuses on a twenty-something woman’s life and the mistakes that she makes along the way. Dating the wrong men, drinking one too many cocktails and falling in love too quickly are things that we are all guilty of doing at some point in our lives. The Clara series is light hearted, frothy and a bit silly. It was never meant to change the world, or be taken too seriously. I aimed to create a fun, flirty series that would bring a little sparkle and laughter to people’s lives.
Book 6 in the series, Clara in the Caribbean is released in April this year. Can you tell us a little bit about the latest installment in the series?
Clara in the Caribbean focuses primarily on Clara’s best friend, Lianna. Li is that one friend we all have who never has any luck in the dating department. This instalment sees Clara and the gang jetting off to the beautiful island of Barbados to meet Lianna’s latest soul mate, Vernon. Has she finally found her knight in shining armour or will Vernon turn out to be just another fool in tin foil?
I love the sound of Clara Andrews – she definitely sounds like a girl after my own heart. Is she an entirely fictional character or is she based on anyone in real life?
I guess I can see a bit of my younger self in Clara and I think a lot of women will be able to relate to her too. She’s a typical girly girl with a love of cocktails, cosmetics and couture. What’s not to love?
Where do you find the inspiration behind Clara’s adventures?
I people watch. I am a firm believer in that the best ideas come from the most simple of places. When I am not curled up in bed writing, you can find me at a hotel with a notepad jotting down ideas for future books.
Do you have any plans for another instalment in the series?
I do have a couple more Clara stories in the pipeline, but I do want to branch off in a different direction in the near future as I have an idea for another series up my sleeve…
Have you always wanted to be a writer?
To be completely honest, I have never really known what I wanted to do for a career, but I have always had a soft spot for writing and reading. To be able to write full time really is a dream come true and I am very grateful to be able to make a career out of it.
What advice would you give to any aspiring novelists out there?
Never give up. It can be incredibly frustrating when you start out and it is very easy to throw in the towel, but stick with it! Rome wasn’t built in a day.
Who are your favourite authors and which type of books do you enjoy reading?
It has been a long time since I have curled up with a book, but I love anything light hearted and girly. The Nearly-Weds by Jane Costello is one of my faves and is always the first thing I pack in my suitcase. A great sun lounger read.
And finally – can you tell us a bit about what you’re up to at the moment?
My husband and I moved house a couple of months ago so things are a little hectic in the London house at the moment. Between working on the Clara series and putting up flat pack furniture we haven’t had much time to relax, but we are looking forward to making some new memories in our new home.
A huge thank you to Lacey for answering my questions. ♥
Don’t forget to pre-order your copy of Clara in the Caribbean, released 13th April 2016.
Lacey is a author who lives very near to me!! But I’ve never read her books *slapped wrist for me* I am definitely going to check them out now after your fabulous interview Holly 😊
